Academic standards for Europe include entrance exams for subjects related to photography, visual arts, graphic design, design, interior design, product design, painting, sculpture, and ceramics. Greece is an exception to this rule, as many of these colleges can be accepted without examination.
Alternatively, you can enter a more general direction without testing and then move on to a limited applied discipline.
However, Greece has exceptions. Depending on the degree, multiple majors in design, photography, video processing, or graphics can be accepted without examination.
Which colleges can you apply to?
You can study these fields at Athens University of Western Attica (formerly TEI of Athens) – here are the faculties: Photography and Visual Arts, Graphics and Visual Arts, Arts, Ancient Art Restoration, Design, Interior Design, and Theater Art. All these colleges can be accessed without examination.
But there are creative subjects in Athens, where admission is competitive – these are the faculties of the Athens Higher School of Art: the Faculty of Painting, Sculpture, Ceramics, and Graphics. Without exams, you can only enter in the general direction – art history.
Athens State University, named after Capodestrias, offers its students to study digital art and cinema but does not provide entrance exams. Without exams, you can enroll in the faculties of theater and film arts.
You can also study art (guiding graphics and drawing) at Thessaloniki at Aristotle University, but unfortunately, there are entrance exams for all faculties.
